Events
A variety of events are organised in various locations throughout the year. In this section you can find details of day trips, multi-day meets, shows and exhibitions. You can see weekly, monthly or yearly calendars and add the events to your own calendar. If you want to download a pdf of the year’s proposed events, you’ll find that here.
Most of our paddling is on placid water suitable for both open canoes and kayaks. Some meets (white water, sea etc.) are suitable for experienced paddlers only. Participation on canoeing trips is at Run Organisers’ discretion, according to paddlers’ abilities & conditions on the day.
Members interested in attending an event should contact the relevant coordinator by e-mail - details of whom are in the contacts pages.
Camping meets fall into two categories:
base camps, where the camping unit is set up at one site for the duration of the meet - generally any camping unit may be used at these meets.
canoe-camps, where the camping unit is carried in canoe or kayak to a different campsite each day - only small backpacking type tents are suitable for these meets.
As a section of the Camping and Caravanning Club, our camping events are only open to Camping and Caravanning Club members (including Canoe-camping Club members) . This means that anyone participating must be a member before attending a meet.
Please remember to bring your Club membership cards to all club events, since we are required to check and record memberships are current. We also need to record Paddle UK numbers for those who have them.
Paddlers need to be a member of the Canoe-camping Club and/or one of The UK's paddlesport National Governing Bodies*. These are needed to ensure that we are covered by the Club's and Paddle UK's insurance.
Canoeing and kayaking are ‘assumed risk’ ‘water contact’ activities, however serious accidents are very rare.
Participants should be aware of and accept these risks, and be responsible for their own action and involvement.
All participants in club trips or meets do so at their own risk, and neither the Club nor its officers can accept any liability for loss or injury of any kind sustained whilst on a Club trip, meet or other activity.
*Paddle UK / Paddle Cymru / Paddle Northern Ireland / Paddle Scotland
Please note, these events are subject to organiser availability, and are subject to possible changes to match volunteers’ and National plans.
