Map-reading and using a Compass

You should be able to:

• find a position on a map from a given 6-figure map reference

• give a 6-figure map reference for a position on a map

• describe from a map the main features of a 3-mile journey

• show how to set a map with a compass

• give a bearing between two points on a map

• use the key on a map

• say when and where a compass would be practically useful (e.g. under difficult weather conditions like fog  and terrain)
